Greetings! My name is Thomas DePauw. I am from Green Bay, Wisconsin, graduated with a degree in Philosophy from Benedictine College in Atchsion, Kansas, and I moved last year to Phoenix to work at Archway Trivium East. My background is largely academic, including training in philosophy, Latin, and Koine Greek. I translated an essay from Latin into English for the international philosophy journal Studia Gilsoniana three years ago, and I have a forthcoming original philosophical article on the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas and Albertus Magnus that will be published in the ACPQ (American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly) this Fall.
Though my career has been largely focused on higher level academics, I found myself attracted to the focus on classical education and formation in the virtues which I found in the Great Hearts community. As a result, I followed my brother, Daniel DePauw, who has already been with Great Hearts for a number of years, in joining the Great Hearts community. Last year I was a Teacher Apprentice in first grade, and this year I am the teacher of K-1 art as well as 5th grade history, science, and logic. In addition to my academic interests, I enjoy cooking (especially Italian cuisine!), reading, playing board games, and good conversation. I am glad to be a part of your classroom this year, and I look forward to getting to know you! |
